The
2001 Charity Golf Classic was held at the Carstairs Community Golf
Course August 13, 2001. As the tournament started, scorching temperatures
greeted the 31 teams that participated. Half way through, mother
nature put on a spectacular light show and thunder storm. The rain
delay gave many participants a chance to quench their thirsts and
swap tales.
Following golf, a western barbeque and charity fundraiser were
held at the Davis-Rairdan Embryo Transplant Centre. After a fabulous
meal, mother nature once again provided some interesting and tense
moments. The charity fundraiser was a resounding success. In the
end over $20,000 was raised for the foundation to support youth
and agriculture and provided a wonderful day to golf with friendly
competition for those celebrating Scott Rairdan's memory.
A big thanks goes to all participants, the sponsors, fundraiser
and prize donors, and all bidders and buyers. Also, thanks to Frank
Mapletoft for taking the photos. We are greatful that you choose
to support this important event.
